@Devona - It is quite quick and simple. The only thing to watch out for is to make sure you leave enough room to make an elastic casing, AND cover the bum. Otherwise you will end up with something like this - http://www.vivelyonline.com/2009/09/bumpity-bump-craft-fail.html

The shirt-into-shorts might be the best idea I've seen in a while. my 5 year old is in great need of shorts and it will almost take as much time to make 10 pairs as it would to go to the store and shop for them!
