It is not as though I had completely forgone sewing or crafting this summer, but I think so much has been happening around here that I had to set something aside.
But I'm slowly setting myself up to get back into the swing of things.
Even as a child, I loved books and would find some cozy corner of the house to read. I wanted to encourage the kids to read more, and even though we have many books, they are often stuffed into a shelf like this:
While, it wasn't that bad, it certainly was not inspiring. Browsing for ideas on different blogs gave me the idea to display the books in order to grab the attention of my kids. Lure them into reading, if you will.
Yesterday, I went to the giant orange store and purchased 3 door framing pieces (they were cheaper than baseboards) for about $2.50 each. I also bought 15 L-brackets, which ended up costing me about $12.
Last night, I spent a couple of hours installing the display ledges. It is pretty straightforward, as you can see in the photo below:
Even though I still had to finish off the sides and possibly cover the brackets with some camouflaging paint, I decided to display some books before I hauled myself off to bed.
Much to my delight, I woke up to this:
P.S. - I made those beanbags a couple of months ago.
