Or crafting.
Inspired by Carolyn, I've decided to play along with the accent/dialect vlog meme. I've stumbled across youtube vids of these vlogs, but it was not until I started to see videos of bloggers I actually follow, that I discovered how much fun this meme is.
Anyway, it is really fun to be able to get a sense of the accents and idioms that normally do not translate that easily into written words.
A few things:
1. It's my first vlog.
2. I've always been conscious speaking to the camera because of my accent, but I was surprisingly comfortable talking to the camera, perhaps because of the subject matter.
3. It was early in the morning and I had no makeup on, probably did not comb my hair, and again surprisingly, I did not care.
Here's the video:
The words are:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
And these are the questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

I like your accent, it is cool and unique! It is funny to think about all the blogs I read from people around the world and what their voices actually sound like!
Miss Vively Online, you are ADORABLE. Seriously. Even with all those photos you post of you in your handmade clothes...they don't do you justice.
Your meme was really interesting! I'm totally going to do one...maybe a tandem with Lo Gung. ;-)
I love this! Thanks for posting this very cool idea.
It was really lovely hearing your voice Su, and interesting! You have a lovely accent. It was interesting that the Canadian part of your accent is much softer than others I've heard. I could hear both the Malaysian and Canadian in your accent (unsurprisingly... :))
That was a good point you made about some of the different words... In Australia we were also taught the "Queen's English", so we use petrol not gas, rubbish not garbage, boot not trunk and bonnet not hood, too! It would be so interesting if the dialect question list was extended.
And thank you so much for your lovely comment about my Mum's jacket. She was thrilled to get so many compliments!
