A New Look 6962 Top/Tunic

We had a long weekend last week as it was a provincial holiday, Family Day. I love having a long weekend in February. It comes along at a time when I feel the drag of winter. Don't get me wrong, winter in Ottawa is amazing. Lots of snow, bright sunshine and quite the Winter Wonderland.

Anyway, I talk on and on about along weekend because I think it did give me a great opportunity to sew. I had been dying to get some sewing done, but there had been a lot going on. However, I did carve out 20-30 minutes time slots throughout the long weekend . In the end, it took me about 3-4 days of sewing whenever I have opportunity, to complete a very cute top from this New Look 6962 pattern:

I think it is just adorable. I enjoy working with knit fabrics, but there is something just so satisfying about a comfortable woven fabric top.
(This picture was taken first thing in the morning by my 7 year old, so if I look tired, it was because I haven't eaten breakfast yet.)

Love the long sleeves:

The back view:
At first, I wasn't going to add the lace around the collar, but I'm glad I did as it added a little more interest to the top. Here's an overexposed picture to show you the details:Isn't it pretty? I've been wearing this top the whole day and it is very comfortable. I love the black and white, but I guess I should really try to make something more colorful. Perhaps this pattern will be bookmarked for a spring top, in pale yellow or blue.

In other news, I apologize for the delay, but I'd like to announce the winner of Vintage Notions.
I felt a little bad because I did not spend a lot of time promoting the contest this time around. However, I was happy to know that the people who commented are my "regular readers", you know what I mean!

This would make Myrnie the winner of the book! Congratulations, my dear.
