I'm trying to get back into blogging mode again, and I thought I'd talk about McCall's 6109 cowl neck dress. I had made this dress around Christmas time last year, but forgot to blog about it. I think it is maybe because I'm a little lukewarm about the dress. I don't dislike it, but it's just that the result of this sewing project is not as spectacular as my imagination made it out to be. Hahahaha :)

Let's talk about this dress. I chose it because of the cowl neckline. I was once advised that small-busted women can pull off the cowl neckline very well, and I must admit that it is one of my favourite looks. I think it balances off my proportions. However, I'm not sure I really like the way this neckline falls. I think maybe it might be a little tad low for me. Nevertheless, this is not a problem as I will wear a camisole under that dress anyway, as cowl necklines can be revealing when one bends over! No free show for strangers :)
In case you are unaware, sewing pattern sizes are very different from store-bought clothing sizes. It's all very confusing especially when you first start using sewing patterns.
I also don't know if I care that much for the skirt part of the dress. I think that there may be too much gather and that the skirt is a little too full for my liking. If I do make this dress again, I may have to make the skirt a lot less full.
So there you go! It may not be my favourite dress, but it's still quite cute, and I will wear it this spring. Hahaha.... it's still dead of winter here. I can't believe I'm thinking of spring.
Cyber-hugs,
Su
PS - Will post link to formal review here when I'm done that!
Edit - As promised, here's the formal review.

Very Pretty Dress!
I think it looks nice on you. I wouldn't have thought to use stripes but I like them with the neckline.
Oh, it's pretty! I don't think the cowl's too low at all.
The stripes are fantastic in blue! I LOVE IT! I'm 4 months pregnant and need to get started on some nice dresses for a cruise in April. Just hard to tell what size I'll be then!
