Back to Something Familiar - Simplicity 4076

Thanks for visiting with me despite my sporadic posting.
Both kids are settled into their new school, I'm working more hours, but that is settled too. And now, I hope to be able to tackle my.... Projects.

I haven't been garment sewing in quite a while, and despite a rather ambitious fall sewing aspiration, I have not been able to get myself started. However, sometimes, it just helps to dive right in with a familiar pattern.

One of the patterns I go back to over and over again is Simplicity 4076. This pattern is a popular one because it is highly accessible.
Last year, I used this pattern at least twice to build up my wardrobe.
Here's the one I made with the gathered neckline, and the first one I made with the faux wrap.

Both are great, but I really like this twisted front top that I also came with the pattern. If I had more fabric, I would have made this top with sleeves. Well, only because it is fall, and something with sleeves, preferably long sleeves, would have been welcomed.
However, I think this is a great top to use underneath a cardigan. (And I like red for fall)

I highly recommend this pattern (again!), even if you don't have a serger. I made this top without one! Pick it up on sale, get a nice knit (you won't ever need more than 2 yds even for the long sleeved version) and give it a go. Just remember to make this top a little longer than recommended. I added a good 2 1/2" to the length. I like my tops to cover my waistband.

That top is super cute on you! (infact I think it looks much better on you then on the model, but dont tell her I said that) I love the bold red color for fall!

That shade of red looks so good on you. I have this pattern in my stash. Maybe this is the year I'll actually sew it.

Oh, Su, that's gorgeous! Yeah, your longer version is how I'd prefer it too. Looks great!
