Grey and White Striped Dress

I'm back. My house is sold, I have a little girl on my lap, and my house is still clean. Bonus!

As part of trying to sell the house, I had put away almost all of my sewing stuff. I don't know about you, but when I sew, I make a Huge Mess. Pieces of fabric, thread, maybe some pattern pieces.... it is not a pretty sight. No matter how clean I try to be, it still ends up being less than showroom perfect. So, for about two weeks there, I was on a sewing break.

Yesterday, I was brave enough to set up my sewing machines again. I really did not feel like unpacking my fabric and my box of sewing patterns. I was about to do so, when I notice that I had failed to pack up this pattern piece.
I had just stuffed it into my sewing dress drawer. Hmm.... was it some kind of sign?
I pulled out one of the boxes of fabric, opened it, and the first fabric I pulled out was a grey and white knit.
Huh... it was definitely a sign!!

I picked this pattern up during a sale. It is one of those highly-rated patterns on PatternReview.com, and I can see why. It is quite flattering on most body types, even with my rectangular shape. We work with what we've been given.
Did you roll your eyes when I tell you that I have a boxy figure? My friend Nie does that to me all the time. I just tell her to shut up, because I'm jealous of her curves. Hey, if you can't be honest with your good friends...

Anyway, I really like this dress. I can even overlook my bad overlock job at the hem. Hahaha..... I'm so judgmental with my own work!

When I've done a proper review of this pattern I will link it. I'm so happy to be sewing again!

edit: As promised, here's the review for this pattern.

Love it! Welcome back :) Mimi is *I think* weaning...which means perhaps this summer I'll get to wear dresses again :) I'll keep this pattern in mind!

That dress looks so cute and comfy. How fortuitous that it worked out!

I would never have picked out that pattern, based on the packaging, but your version makes me want to give it a try!

Two weeks?! SO. JEALOUS. We've been on the market for a week, scheduled three showings, and been stood up twice.

That dress is fabulous!!!!! Seriously. I may have to hunt for some cute knit.

You know, the cover of that pattern would have never caught my eye had I seen it in the store. But after seeing your dress, I see the detail so much better and it looks so good. I really like the stripes and am tempted to add this to my long list of sewing...
