I have a good friend who reads home decorating and architectural magazines. She is a whiz at interior decorating. Me? I am quite clueless. I know what I don't like when I see it. I guess, I finally figured out that I don't like those curtains. Strange, I really like the fabric. Why do they not work as curtains.
Anyway, $10 on fabric and 45 minutes of work yielded this:
Well, I did Love the fabric, especially the green sparkly one!
Here's a better picture of the room:
Here's what I plan to do next.
I'm going to redo those side tables. I'm thinking an off-white, and changing those drawer handles. (Um... ignore the toys. My daughter uses that side table as a house for her baby.)
What do you think? Do you think a lighter color will be better?
I may also dye the duvet color. The white seems so stark. I'm thinking a more pale beige.
Yeah, I'm so unsure about the whole thing. Should I bother to dye it? Or just leave it as is?
And finally, I really like the decal, but now, I'm not so sure. Here's a better picture:
Anyway, I would really appreciated some input, because I am so clueless!
Thanks,
Su

Hrm...I'd definitely keep the duvet cover white, and maybe paint the bedstands a creamy, distressed white? I don't know! hahaha
Er, in contradiction to Aunt Lolo, I was going to agree with you the white sheet would look nice beige... you've done a fantastic job. The curtains are beautiful and just right for the room. I love the decal.
And your refashioned black dress is gorgeous!
Hmm I love the decals and the curtains. The side table will look nice cream or white. I guess a white table will be a much cuter "dollhouse" Haha :)
I like the white duvet and I adore what you've done with the fabric from the former curtains!! I also think changing the colour of the side tables would look great.
I like the decals but I think they are not defined enough just floating there. Would you consider painting a rectangle of a deeper version of the wall colour and putting them back on - or perhaps boxing them in somehow? I'm not suggesting you remove them as they are lovely, just ground or define them more.
@Carolyn - Thank you
@Meream -Yes, I'm thinking white/cream and distressed!
ebinbaby - Oh... I see what you mean! I will have to think of a way to ground them
Paint the side tables black and slightly sandpaper some of the corners for a distressed look. I think that would be awesome.
I say dye the duvet cover beige and paint the side tables to match. It would soften and lighten things up great.
