My Crazy Canadian Kids

My crazy kids do not think that -10ÂșC is too cold to ice skate. In fact, the wind was blowing across the farmer's field into the outdoor rink. I'm pretty sure it was 5 to 10 degrees colder than that. However, they think it's perfectly natural to skate for over 30 minutes, and drag their very chilled mum tobogganing after that. And then, go for a swing at the playground.

Right, let me tell you, there's no way to look human in this weather. I couldn't take a self-portrait, but I was dressed somewhat in this:
At that point, who cares what I was wearing underneath all that! The things I do for my kids....

Anyway, I was going to do a sewing post today, but I have been really distracted of late with all the stuff that's on the news. So, instead I decided to post photos of my two very precious daughters, living their very care-free lives. Heh.

And my dear Canadian friends, I'm sure you've heard by now, but in case you haven't, the Government of Canada has announced it will MATCH every donation up to $50 million in support of Haiti from now until February 12. Please help, every little bit counts.

Brrr! I'm so grateful I live in Texas!

I know what you mean about being distracted. I've been reading the reports about how building codes and construction practices are substandard in Haiti. If I didn't have younger children still at home, I'd convince my husband to go with me on a rotation with Engineers Without Borders and help put the pieces back together again.

Hey, I had no idea we were donating that kind of mula. Go Canada. Where do we donate so that the Gov will match it?

p.s. Trying to look cool means being cold. Hooray for bundling up to have fun with the babes.

Su that is way too adorable!!! I wish we had an outdoor rink here!! (Not that my hubby would let me iceskate in my current condition!)

By the way you're not the only one, when it get's that cold here (which now that I think about it is at least a few times a week), we all venture out in giant puffers with a trillion thermal layers! (Though I add the fur bomber hat because I'm so darned cold!)

ps. I love how in Canada you say "mum" not "mom" and use Celsius... it makes me feel more normal!
