Stylish Casserole/Pie Carrier

How have you been? Busy with the parties, get-togethers, etc? I hope you are surrounded by loved ones.

I tried write a post two days ago, but that didn't happen. I thought I should really catch up with everyone in blogland today. It's boxing day, and Ottawa has been blessed with icy rain. This morning, I barely made it out of the house to teach my yoga class. When I got back, I could not get the car up my short icerink-like driveway. In fact, it was nothing short of a miracle that I did not have to crawl on hands and knees to make it from my car to the front door. In the end, my husband had to scrape sheets of ice off the driveway in order to get the car into the garage.
So, we are staying indoors today.

Here I am, rambling on about ice, when I really want to talk about my pie carrier.
It never ceases to amaze me. Every time I make one for myself, I end up giving it away. I've made a few of these carriers now, but do not have one for myself yet.

Here's the latest one:
I love the lining:

I like things that fold away neatly when not in use:

This time, my sister gets to take it home with her. Lucky gal.
I had a very brief moment of hesitation before giving this one to her, because I really, really like how this one turned out. But of course, it is hers now. I can always make myself another one.... again!

You can make your own using this tutorial.

This might be a good project for me! My mom and grandmother often use these when they're taking casseroles and whatnot to friends and neighbours.

I love this carrier, especially the part about "folding flat". I think I need one, too. Have you tried making a rectangular one? If so, do you put the handle strap on the long side or the short side? Curious Minds, you know!

But you never DO make one for yourself. There's always SOMEONE who needs a small token of your love. ;-)

Glad you survived the icy rain! I do NOT miss that. UGH.
