Painting Wood

I've been a tad distracted lately, and have not been sewing as much as I'd like to.

Nothing too glamorous, I've been painting my bathroom cabinets. Actually, I had wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets, but I was so worried about messing it up that I decided to tackle the bathroom. It's a much smaller project.

So, here are the 'before' shots:
I really like the cherry stain on these cabinets, but they are over 13 years old.
You probably can't tell from these photos, but the drawers are discolored and scratched. And the 'After' shots:

Cleaner, brighter... I really like how it updates the whole look of the bathroom.
In case you are wondering, I used 'Vintage White' from Debbie Travis' line of paint. It has very little red in it, just a teeny-tiny drop. This has always been my criteria for choosing light colors, as I truly dislike the pinkish hue that show under certain lighting conditions, when there is too much red in the paint formula.
What do you think? Is it an improvement? I'm also going to change that faucet very soon.

My kitchen cabinets are the same cherry wood, and I am thinking of tackling them next.

Love it! Have you thought about changing the hardware? I saw a blog post the other day- she'd used metal spray paint to turn everything "oil-rubbed bronze." Looked really great!

You go girl! It looks great. I wish I could do that to some things around here, but alas, we're renting the ugliness.

Are the cabinets of pressed wood. I have pressed wood cabinets that need painted. Do you know anything about painting them.
