That said, I do so admire parents who have 3 or more children. The coordination! The planning! How do they manage? And yet they do so beautifully.
My friend is expecting her 4th, and I decided to make a diaper bag for her.
At least, I hope she would use it as a diaper bag.
When I had my babies, I liked using a backpack as a diaper bag. However, I also like to have a tote-like bag as well.
I knew what I looked for in a diaper bag:
Easy access - reach into the bag with one hand. No fussy zippers or buckles
Loop that I can latch my keys onto
Lots of pockets for organization inside the bag, but right at the bottom of the bag so that things don't fall out easily.
So, this is the bag I made for her - I used two place mats and some polka-dotted fabric I bought from a thrift store:
Anyway, when I gave her the bag, I brought along my seam ripper because I wasn't sure about that big pocket. It seemed like a great idea, but I wasn't sure I really liked the look of it. Well, as far as my friend was concerned, she was happy to have a big pocket on the outside to slip in wet wipes and the like.

That looks pretty! When I make them for friends, I always know that "a gazillion pockets" is important. :D
Look at you go! It's a great bag!!!!!
I have a crazy purse addiction. It's bad... very bad. I have clutches that I like for going out. I have vintage handbags that I like to use if I have an outfit that suits it. I have a large, brown tote that can hold my laptop and folders for work. But lately, I've discovered how much I like two particular things: a cell phone pocket, and a key ring loop. They're prerequisite on anything that I buy new!
I must ask a dumb question: How do you attach your key ring to the loop? Is the loop closed with velcro or a snap on one side? Or do you use a carabiner hook or sth similar on your key ring? Or is the key ring just kind of "draped" into the loop by its keys?
Sandra, not a dumb question at all!
I use a small non-locking carabiner, but I've also used a swivel hook and clasp. I find the carabiner does the best job.
