Vintage Pattern Review: 1970s McCall's 3193 Tunic

Two weekends ago, I made a purchase that has got me very distracted. I haven't been doing much crafting, just a lot of sewing and playing around with a new purchase

After many years for humming and hawing, I decided to took the plunge and bought a serger. It's a very basic Singer ProFinish. I think I would have been stuck in my indecision loop, if it was not for the amazing sale that they had at the local shop. I have never seen a brand new serger sell for that low a price.
There you go! I'm now a proud new owner of a serger. I'm still a little bit wary of it, but we are fast becoming friends.

Here's the first pattern I attempted with the serger. I still used my sewing machine to topstitch and hem, but it is lovely to see the professional seams that the serger affords me.

Misses' Dress, or Tunic and Pants.
I made the tunic only.

Pattern Sizing:
Size 12 only - Bust 34

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, even though there is no binding at the neck. Also, the tunic reached until just above my knees. I'm only 5'1"

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, it is a very simple pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It is a casual style, and I like how simple it is. My shape is boyish, so this style suits me. I think that if I wanted to, I could pair this with a nice belt. In fact, if you have a small waist, you may want to wear this tunic with a belt at all times.

Fabric Used:
Polyester/Cotton knit blend. Really cute design that caught my eyes.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
Yes. Since I used knit, I left out the the zipper that was supposed to go in the back. I also left out the neck binding because I wanted to be able to slip my neck through the neck whole. I may still go to the store to get a matching fold over elastic, but I think it looks good this way too.
Another thing I did is to take an inch off the back piece, since I thought that perhaps since I'm using knit, the tunic would look nicer if it was a little more snug.
Lastly, when I tried it on halfway, I realized that the tunic came all the way down to my knees. That's when I decided to leave out the slit of the tunic as well. The tunic became a dress for me.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I love the pattern. I love the style. It's so simple to make, especially since I did not have to use a zipper for it. If you can get hold of this vintage pattern, I highly recommend it.
