Refashion a Jacket

I finally got around to another refashion. This time I tackle a jersey jacket. I confess that I have had this jacket for 2 years, but have never worn it. Yup.

Why not? Well, let see, the puffy shoulders accentuates my broad shoulders. Broad, compared to the rest of my body, but I like my strong shoulders and muscly arms, thank you very much. Also, the puffed out bottom of the jacket made me look pregnant.

Really, I've never had a jacket look so awful on me. I bought it online; it looked so good on the beautiful, slender, 6 feet tall model. Duh, go figure!! Haha, I've got to laugh at myself for falling into a marketing trap.

Here it is on Betsy (my fitting assistant):

I used my trusty seam ripper to remove the arms and lower panels. I had to cut off excess fabric from the arms and the panel to get rid of the puffiness. I also removed the decorative buttons on the sides and added it to the center closure.

Then, I noticed a hole in the back. Wha.....??? How did that get there? To cover it up, I had thought of either an applique, or some crochet flowers. I decided to go with the flowers.

I added a matching flower on the lapel too. I got the idea from some creative members of Wardrobe Refashion. I wouldn't have thought it, but I love the look of a single flower on a jacket, or a shawl.

I tried to model the jacket, but it was quite impossible to get good photo showcasing the jacket. (I tried to take a picture of my reflection, but alas, the only thing that showed was bad house-keeping. I guess it's time to clean those mirrors)
Betsy to the rescue again:

It looks less stiff on my person, I swear!! :)
