I tried my hand at a "vintage" girl's dress pattern, just a trial using some random fabric from my stash. Turns out, anything 20+ years old is vintage. Who knew? Kind of misleading, huh?
Pattern Description: A-line dress, neck ruffle, yoke with back button closing, back concealed slit pleat opening, short sleeves with elastic.
Pattern Sizing: 2-3-4. I cut size 4
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the style, and the old-fashion look. I did find that the body a little wide and a odd-looking. See photo when arms are spread wide.
You would think that a See and Sew pattern would be easy, but I found that this is definitely not a beginner's pattern - there were plenty of funky ruffles and pleats in there, baby

Fabric Used: cotton blend. I found some fabric from my stash that I don't even remember buying/getting. However, since this was just for a trial of the pattern, I wasn't too concern about how the fabric looked. However, turns out my kids really like the fabric.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I ran out of green ribbon for the bodice of the dress. (The three stripes of ribbons at the bottom of the dress near the hem)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? No, I won't be sewing this again. I think that there are many other patterns out there that yields results just as cute with much less work.
Conclusion: Cute pattern, but not for me! Much too fiddly. My daughter seems to love it though. She begs me to wear it even though it is still winter.

It's a very sweet style- very much "vintage". Love it!
Thanks, Myrnie!
Such a pretty dress. I'd like a dress made out of that fabric myself! The ruffles on the collar and cuffs turned out beautifully. :)
Caseykoester - Thank you! I may actually give this pattern another try because of the good responses to it.
