First of all, what is freezer paper?
Freezer Paper is a plastic-coated paper used for wrapping foods for freezing and for general household purposes. It is coated on one side (not both sides, that's wax paper).
When ironed plastic-coated side down it clings to fabric. When removed, it leaves no residue. The other side can be written on.
Turns out Freezer Paper can be used for many nefarious crafty purposes.
Check out what quilters do with freezer paper.
At my first attempt at freezer paper stenciling, I used this easy guide on crafster.org
So, if you don't have fabric paint lying around at home, you can go out and purchase some. Or, if you are a dabbler like myself, you can go to the nearest arts and craft store and purchase yourself some fabric painting medium to mix with your existing acrylic paint. There are a few different brands out there, but I didn't feel like spending that much money on an experiment, so I just bought a $3 bottle. It's small, but more than enough for what I had in mind.

I slipped a piece of cardboard underneath the layer of fabric.

It's white, with some gold. I didn't saturate the fabric with the paint, because I wanted it to look a little 'antique'

On the back of a tank top:

Awesome!
