You're going to laugh at me, but I panicked (just a teeny bit) last night when the shower head broke.
Really. I need my daily shower. Yes, I could always use the other washroom, but I'm have my little habits.
Here's my sad shower head. *Sob*. These things aren't made to last!

I spent the most of today being a chauffeur to my kids, and then finding the time to run them into the hardware store to get a new shower head. Hmm, yeah. It was that important that I get it today!
These are the tools I used:

This is not really meant to be tutorial. I'm just posting these pictures because I'm mighty tickled by the fact that my 3 year old took them. Also because most of the people who read this blog are women (thank you dear readers). Yes! We can do it! :)
Forgive the cheesy smiles, it's hard to resist the "Smile mum, smile" entreaties.
Make sure that there's a towel underneath you, so that you don't bust up the tub, if something falls.
Remove the old shower head using adjustable pliers. You may want to wrap the chrome with a cloth to prevent scratching.
Apply some new Teflon tape to the threads of the shower stem. This helps to prevent water leakage.
When applying the Teflon tape, wrap it in the direction that the fixture will be tightened, otherwise it may tear when the fixture is installed on the threads.
Screw on the new shower head.Hah! It worked! No leaks! Phew....

yay! crisis averted :)
Hooray for toddlers with cameras! Good job on your shower head :)
Nenette - It was *kind* of a crisis! :)
Myrnie - I let my kids use my old digital camera. It's fun to see what they end up taking picture of.
Isn't it funny how we get stuck in our habits? It felt plain weird for me to use the 'other' shower when our ensuite was being painted.
Good for you to take charge ;) I don't think I'd know where to start or what to do!
