The Sewing Bag (S'Bag) Overfloweth

Last night, I tried to jam a zip-lock bag that is filled with a jumble of ribbons, buttons and other sewing notions, into my "Sewing Bag", lovingly known as S'Bag (pronounce se-bag).

In the end, I gave up. There's just no help for it.
S'bag is a Golf Bag, with a shoe compartment. Since I do not play golf, I have claimed this bag for my sewing bag. The rule was that all my sewing notions should fit into this bag and this bag alone. I don't have a sewing room - I carry the bag and my sewing machine from room to room. The fabric stash fits into a box in the basement, and the patterns fit into another.

When I can't comfortably fit anything else into my sewing bag, then I'm in trouble. I have to reorganize.

I removed all the items from my bag to show you what I mean by mess. Poor S'bag, all stuffed up.

What a JUMBLE!!
Gah! How did I get anything done?!?

After reorganizing:

Top to Bottom (l-r):

1) All larger notions and unused tools into a large zip lock bag.
2) Embroidery thread and small hoop in a small zip lock bag.
3) Small pieces of notions in another tackle box.
4) I also used a tackle box from the dollar store to organize the bobbins.
5) I organized the thread spindle bin, with neccessary sewing tools (scissors, markers, etc). It looks much better.
6) I also had a craft bag that contains all crafty related stuff; hemp rope, beads, felt etc...
7) Buttons Galore
8) All ribbons, bias tapes and elastics into another bag.

I also have a little box that sits next to my sewing machine as I work contains my pin cushion, seam ripper (important!), needles, small scissors and safety pin (not in picture)

I know, I have a lot of stuff! This is a 10 year accumulation, and a lot of this was passed on to me. I already have a bag full of stuff to post on the local freecycle chapter

It does feel good to organize, sort and purge.

Next... the monster underwear/socks drawer? *shudder*

Hi there! I found your blog last night...and I LOVE it! We have a lot of the same taste in crafts ;)

It's so much fun to have a stash, isn't it? It's so much easier to make things if you have supplies on hand!
